Every TV channel seems to have its own reality series, at least one and sometimes more. And a wide variety of people is represented: the models, the newlyweds, the bachelors/bachelorettes, the alligator hunters, the duck call makers, the New Jersey guys and gals, etc. I know that's a very short list. But no matter how lengthy the list, you'll find that one particular group is missing.
We need to make a reality TV series about writers.
Yes, I said it. Writers. Can you imagine? We sit for hours on end punching away at the keyboard. That's the real deal.
And then we wind up laughing or crying or getting mad about something the character did or didn't do. We fight with the voices in our heads and have about a 50-50 chance of winning. We sit at the computer until our backs hurt and our fingertips are numb... and then we write some more. What great drama! How visceral and gritty!
So here's my proposal. Let's make a sample video. We'll have someone sitting and writing for about three hours. Then, there'll be a big arguing match with a character. (Of course, half the argument will be in the writer's head - that is, the voice of the character - so it'll seem one-sided, but that's okay!) Finally, we'll have the writer sitting and writing for a few more hours.
I think it would be a big seller and a definite improvement over most of the reality series on TV now.
(And yes, this was a sarcastic post. However, if you decide to make such a video, I'll post it on the Semi-Sane Writer. Please, no writing in your underwear...)
